Coffee first, then the world

Baristas on Tap was founded back in 2017 by Joshua Newman, who was looking for a way to compliment his acting work with a side-gig that utilised his extensive coffee experience and skills.

Having worked in the coffee industry for a decade, he understood the impact short-staffing had on the hospitality industry, and put his skills to good use by reaching out to shops and offering to fill spare shifts as and when they needed it.

As the number of requests began to grow, Joshua found himself seeking help from past colleagues and friends that he could trust, and before he knew it the service was operating well enough that he stepped away from the bar to focus on managing his pool of baristas. From there, Baristas on Tap was born! But not as we know it today.

Word began to spread for the service and the benefits it brought to both Baristas and shops. However, there was one important thing missing: the app!

The service outgrew its third party scheduling software, and a gamble was taken to develop its own mobile app to act as a portal between baristas and shops. This gamble was worthwhile, and Baristas on Tap soon established itself as a ‘gamechanger’ within the speciality coffee industry, becoming the name on everyone’s lips.

Having expanded from London to then spanning the entirety of the UK, our latest ventures include USA and European expansions. We look forward to bringing the service to all locations in the coffee industry, providing as many baristas as possible with the flexibility to earn a living wage with a service that supports both their development and wellbeing.
